HUMBOLDT COUNTY EARTHQUAKE TRIGGERS TSUNAMI WARNING
A powerful earthquake struck off the coast of Humboldt County, California, on Thursday morning, prompting a tsunami warning for the North Coast region. The quake, initially reported as a magnitude 6.6 by the US Geological Survey (USGS), was later upgraded to a 7.0 magnitude.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 10:44 a.m. in the Pacific Ocean, west of Petrolia, California. The tsunami warning specifically applies to areas within 45 miles southwest of Eureka.

Minutes after the initial quake, an apparent aftershock measuring 5.8 magnitude was recorded near Cobb, California, in Lake County. Several smaller aftershocks, ranging between 2.5 and 4.2 magnitude, followed shortly thereafter.
Residents across Northern California, including parts of the Central Valley, reported feeling the tremors. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and advising residents in the affected areas to stay alert for further updates.
