George Clooney Reportedly Frustrated Over Fallout from Biden Endorsement Withdrawal
George Clooney is allegedly feeling betrayed and regretful after his public call for President Joe Biden to step aside in the 2024 election campaign, according to sources cited by National Enquirer. Clooney’s op-ed, published prior to Biden’s decision to end his campaign and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, criticized the 81-year-old president’s health and cognitive performance, particularly after a lackluster debate performance in June.
In his essay, Clooney described Biden as a diminished version of his former self, writing, “The Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010… We are not going to win in November with this president.”
Clooney’s involvement reportedly stemmed from encouragement by former President Barack Obama, with whom Clooney has had a longstanding friendship.
However, sources claim that Obama distanced himself publicly, leaving Clooney to face criticism alone after Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election. Critics online have blamed Clooney and other high-profile figures for Biden stepping aside, arguing that the former president could have defeated Trump in a rematch.
One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, “Joe should not have been talked down. He would have beat him again.” Another lamented, “Thanks a lot. You pushed out the guy who could win. F— you all.”
The fallout reportedly has left Clooney feeling “duped” and vowing to avoid future political involvement. According to insiders, Clooney believes he “took a bullet for the team” by stepping into a controversial role in urging Biden to withdraw, only to be left holding the blame.
The op-ed and its aftermath highlight the divisions within Democratic circles following the election, as well as the challenges faced by public figures who engage in political discourse. Clooney has yet to publicly address the reported fallout.
