The holiday season can be stressful for shoppers trying to get last-minute Christmas presents in on time, but it’s even more challenging for Amazon delivery drivers. These unsung heroes ensure packages arrive at your doorstep promptly, even during the busiest time of the year. Some drivers have been taking to TikTok to offer tips, such as reminding customers not to place dirty packages directly on their beds.
Amazon recently announced that the last day for Prime members to place orders that are guaranteed to arrive before Christmas is Dec. 22, while those without Prime must order by Dec. 20.
TikTok user @serena_mendozaa, a delivery driver, recently shared an insightful video explaining how people can show appreciation to their drivers during this hectic season. She said, “Right now, at the warehouse, it is so stressful. We’re getting three times the amount of packages that we used to just because it’s the Christmas season.”
Serena offered a simple yet meaningful way to thank drivers: by telling Alexa to “Thank my delivery driver.” This command will provide the driver an extra $5, paid for by Amazon at no cost to the customer. “It’s literally from the company because they know how crazy it is right now for us drivers,” she explained. “Please don’t forget to thank your drivers.”
In the replies, people expressed surprise at this option, with one person saying, “I had no idea I could do this and Amazon has been at my house every day for a week now!! From this day forward, I will do this. Too bad you’re not my driver.”
Amazon has also made it possible to thank drivers by searching for “Thank my driver” on their website or app. As of December 10, the company reported that over 2 million “thank yous” had been submitted, with the promotion offering $5 for each to eligible drivers.
