Melania Trump’s ex-boyfriend, Jure Zorcic, has shed light on their brief romance, painting a picture of youthful serendipity and Melania’s captivating presence. In a nostalgic interview with ABC News, Zorcic described the first moment he laid eyes on her in four poignant words: “Wow, who is this?”
Their meeting in Slovenia, set against the backdrop of a transforming political era in 1991, seemed straight out of a movie. Zorcic recounted the encounter as he passed Melania—then a tall, elegant young woman walking down a quiet, army-blocked street—on his motorbike. Compelled to stop, he turned back and struck up a conversation that soon blossomed into a romance.
“It was a bit of shock when I met her,” Zorcic revealed, reflecting on the impression Melania made. “She is very special, that’s the truth… She was tall, had long hair across her face—such style!” He marveled at her beauty and demeanor, which he described as both classy and striking.
Their relationship lasted several months, including a summer spent with friends in Croatia. However, Zorcic was taken aback when Melania abruptly left Slovenia to pursue a modeling opportunity in New York City. Years later, when they reconnected in 2000, Zorcic noted how much had changed—not just in Melania’s life, but even in her speech. Speaking to him in English instead of Slovenian, she expressed her reluctance to return to Slovenia, having fully embraced her new life in America.
Reflecting on Melania’s eventual rise to prominence as both a supermodel and the wife of President-elect Donald Trump, Zorcic remarked, “I think it was fate.” He admitted that none of them, including Melania herself, could have imagined her future living “at the top of the world” in Trump Tower.
The interview offers a rare glimpse into Melania’s pre-White House life, revealing the ambition and charm that would later propel her into the global spotlight.
